Piltun A-A Platform - "The Molikpaq"
Location: Sakhalin Island, Russia. 17 km offshore
Production Capacity: 90000 Barrels a day from 2km below the sea level
Challenges: Remote location, Temperatures extremes, High Level Specifications
Upgrades:
- Process Module Upgrade:
Objectives: Temperature control to prevent ice build-up within the Module
Challenges: Sealing off the building. Re-circ of warm air down to lower levels Custom Exhaust system. No internal Hot Works
Platform Constraints: Continued operational capability during installation
Solution: A simple yet clever design eliminating multiple duct runs - Power Generation Module Upgrade
Objectives: Practical design for combustion & ventilation air for the new generators
Challenges: Temperature control for the generators, Space limitations, incorporation of earthquake expansion joints beneath 18m³ Supply air plenum
Platform Constraints: Integration with existing structures & services, noise breakout, Fire & Gas Interface Control, pressurization
Solution: A custom built modularised supply air plenum, including a completely plenumised generator room floor complete with trafficable floor louvres - Well Bay Upgrade
Objectives: Provision for a retrofit HVAC system complete with blast panels and fusible link blast doors for explosion protection
Challenges: Critical platform area. Oil production to continue during HVAC installation Platform Constraints: Space management around existing drill pipes and rolling derrick structure
Solutions: Design review, site surveys, Material Take Off & re-routing off current partial Installation from a 2001 design
