North Rankin B (NR2 Redevelopment Project)

The North Rankin Redevelopment (NR2) Project will unlock low-pressure reserves from the North Rankin and Perseus fields which are located approximately 130km north-west of Karratha off the North coast of Western Australia. The NR2 project underpins gas supply to the onshore LNG production facilities.

The North Rankin and Perseus fields form part of the North West Shelf asset and are currently produced via the North Rankin A (NRA) platform which provides the processing facilities (gas dehydration) and contains the wellheads.

The new NRB Platform will be installed by floatover method 100m to the west of the existing NRA facilities in a water depth of 125m and will be bridge linked to NRA. The prime function of NRB platform is to provide gas compression and condensate pumping for the fluids produced from the NRA wells and exported from the NRA export facilities. In addition, NRB will provide a new Living Quarters along with power, control and utilities for the overall NR2 Complex.

Following installation, hook-up and commissioning the two platforms will operate as one production complex.

DESMO’s scope of works for this project includes the design, supply and site services of HVAC systems for the Permanent Living Quarters and Topsides Switch Room areas. DESMO are actively participating in the Flawless Start Up (FSU) program, an initiative aimed at providing a heightened focus towards quality, inspection, testing and equipment management along with the Human Factors Ergonomics (HFE) program, another initiative, this time focused on designing equipment packages with increased consideration of personnel and operator interaction.

The scope of equipment to be supplied includes high-specification, blast-resistant, ATEX certified Air Handling Units and ventilation fan packages along with a 2MW chilled system comprising duty / standby water-cooled chillers.
